Virginian Goober-natorial

So the Washington Post has an article about Republican gubernatorial candidate Robert F. McDonnell today. It would seem that Mr. McDonnell believed all kinds of wacky, wacky things back in 1989 when he wrote his Master's thesis.

As if I would vote for him anyhow, since I disagree with him on all kinds of stuff, but this cements it, you know?

Kennedy

Can we please stop it with the trope, "The Media gave Ted Kennedy a pass when it came to Chappaquiddick." They did? Really? Gave him a pass? Can anyone over the age of 30 think "Ted Kennedy" without also getting a glimmer of "Mary Jo Kopechne?" No. No, you can't. So while the JUSTICE system may have failed Mary Jo, and the Kennedys sure as shit failed Mary Jo, I really don't think anyone can accuse the media of failing her, nor of giving Kennedy a pass regarding her.

Descent is the highest form of patriotic.

(See explanation of title here.)

Here's the big difference, you deliberately clueless motherfuckers, between Bush fils's Town Hall Meetings and Obama's Town Hall Meetings:

Bush banned people and cancelled meetings which were not to his hand-picked specifications and engaged in all kinds of other media fuckery.

Obama and other pols out there on the Town Hall circuit are actually getting the opportunity to hear - and thus publicly air - other sides of the issues. Even when they're batshit fucking insane.

SOCIALISM!!

Perfect comment posted by user Ozone on Fark in this thread:
This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy.

I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility.

After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.

On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department.

And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

No comment from me except, "Awesome!"

Lock-step? Um, no.

You know, I keep seeing folks on the Right talking about folks on the Left being in lock-step with Obama just like they always were for Bush and Cheney and whomever else was in favor at any given time. "You people all think he's the Messiah!" they say. "You all parrot whatever message the Left-Wing Mainstream (wait, what?) Media tells you to say!"

One of the best Venn Diagrams I've seen was one which looked like this only, you know, circles:

((People who call Obama "The Messiah")) ((People who voted for Obama))

You'll note that the circles do NOT intersect.

Anyhow, from Crooks and Liars:
Are the Obama people really that dumb? They were "surprised," "caught off guard" by the massive dirtstorm unleashed on healthcare reform?

These are the geniuses of 11-dimensional chess? Puhleeze. I think they've started to believe their own press. Obama the Healer, Obama the Post-Racial Lincoln. What a bunch of damned dopes.

Yeah, we Lefties are sure a bunch of lock-step "Yes" men, aren't we?

Watch this space.

In a couple of weeks - or within a couple of weeks, depending - I'm going to try to post at least once a day for a solid month. I'm going to shit my lackadaisical, poorly-researched opinions at all of you fans (how many people read this - 2? 3?) once a day for a solid month. Even if all I can come up with is, "[Politician's Name] is a weenie!" I'll friggin' well post.

Just need a starting date and I'm on it like vomit.
